Imdur is used for preventing angina caused by heart disease. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take

Use Imdur as directed by your doctor. Take Imdur with or without a meal. Take Imdur with half glass of water or other liquid. Imdur tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. Do not suddenly stop taking Imdur. You may have an increased risk of side effects (eg, an angina attack). If you need to stop taking Imdur or add a new medicine, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Warnings and precautions

Before taking Imdur, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Imdur, if you have heart problems (eg, heart failure, heart attack, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), low blood pressure, blood problems (eg, anemia), dehydration, bleeding the brain, an overactive thyroid, or have had a recent head injury, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Imdur while you are pregnant. It is not known if Imdur is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you use Imdur, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Imdur. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Do not take Imdur if you are using a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (eg, sildenafil, Tadalafil, vardenafil). Do not drink alcohol while taking Imdur. When you begin using Imdur, headaches are likely to occur. Ask your doctor for instructions on ways to reduce this side effect. Imdur should not be used to stop an attack of angina, it is intended only for prevention of an attack. Imdur may interfere with certain lab tests. Be sure your doctor and lab personnel know you are taking Imdur. Do not give Imdur to children. Safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.

Side effects

Some of the Possible Side Effects are - Dizziness, headache, nausea. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), changes in vision, fainting, numbness of an arm or leg, severe stomach pain, sharp or crushing chest pain, sudden leg pain, sudden, severe headache, sudden shortness of breath, vomiting.

Storage

Store Imdur at 59 – 86 °F (15 – 30 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Imdur out of the reach of children.
